Details would be appreciated.Ĭlick to expand.I’m not a fan of this gps at all, to say the least. I read a post about snipping a wire for disabling that feature on the 17 models and backwards. This presents dangers in itself.Ī bit frustrated with the Navigation system on my 2k 2015 Goldwing 40th Anniversary. And on the fly wasn't a option, so you must pull off road. Could be I didn't have a signal, but it did know my location, so I assumed it had signals.īottom line it's not at all a simple process to accomplish while on a bike. Especially when typing a destination only to be told that it can't be found. Now granted I haven't invested a great deal of time, especially on the roadside, but several attempts of more than 15 minutes each, left me extremely frustrated. Just from the standpoint of user friendly, this doesn't qualify. This thread was in the top searches so I jumped in and began to read the first 50 plus, then next 50 plus posts, to only realize that my concerns were valid. So, I figured I'd jump on the forum, which I am a new member, and get some useful tips on how to get started with understanding my Nav system. I ended up using my cell phone for Nav on my 3 day road trip. I consider myself tech savy, but even after reading the highlights I was lost at the start. Just bought a 15 wing with the Nav package. They are blaming regulations for it being locked down, but where there's a will there is a way. They are listening but whether they act on it, is a different story. I take my time getting on, and the darned thing still doesn't fully load until a couple of blocks later. I turn on the bike, then start to get my gear on. Both the Navigation and the XM satellite radio take forever to load. Oh, and I'm starting to become suspicious of the entire Harman-Kardon thing. Overall, I love my Goldwing, but the navigation is pathetic. I'm not sure who programmed this thing, but they didn't go a very good job. This one has happened to me a couple of times. I just mostly rely on my phone as the Goldwing Navigation constantly has me going the wrong direction, on the wrong road, or simply driving five miles past my destination to be directed to do a u-turn and head back where I came from. I can't even find main roads in towns that are old.really old. Two updates after about a year and they were two parts of the same update.
